The first side of the badge talks about supporting Cedric Diggory, as he is the first "real" champion for Hogwarts.
This badge had put the Slytherins and the Hufflepuffs on the same side, for once. The Slytherins had used it to create mischief, while the normally placid Hufflepuffs saw it as another chance for Gryffindor to steal their glory.
The Slytherins had charmed the badges to flash the message "Potter Stinks" to Potter supporters and Harry Potter himself. Though some younger Gryffindors attempted to charm it otherwise, the badges weren't affected.
