St Mungo's is located in London. Its emblem is a crossed wand and bone. The hospital is hidden from Muggle eyes behind a department store called Purge & Dowse Ltd, with large signs reading 'Closed for Refurbishment'. To enter the hospital, you must state your business to the ugly female dummy standing in the store window, then step through the glass.

The large reception area of St Mungo's is festively decorated for the Christmas season, the crystal orbs that illuminate it coloured red and gold to become gigantic, glowing Christmas baubles. Holly hangs around every doorway and shining white Christmas trees covered in magical snow and icicles glitter in every corner, each topped with a golden star.

The Janus Thickey Ward on the fourth floor of the hospital is for long-term residents with permanent spell damage. Gilderoy Lockhart, Broderick Bode and Mr and Mrs Longbottom are residents of the ward.
